Why do people get into a cycle of procrastination?
Procrastination is the child of fear. What people don’t understand about severe procrastination is it is not about being lazy. It’s about real fear and pain. It’s as much an illness as any other physical or mental illness, though I would categorize it as more of aspiritual illness. The first step in any self improvement is to recognize the problem. The next step is to realize where this behavior stems from. Next is change the internal dialogue and thinking process. Begin facing the fears head on and moving through them. And setting small goals can be a huge help. Stepping stone, habit forming, and Forget-Me-Not goalsare all immensely helpful in combating Procrastination. Don’t try to do something difficult every day, you’ll get overwhelmed. Start with a few times a week or less. Lastly, reward yourself each time you achieve something that normally you would have procrastinated.
