Ok so I’ve been feeling a bit more zen lately, a bit more spiritual, a bit more like myself. Being myself means doing affirmations that keep me on track, meditating, praying, sending energy, working with my chakras, and so much more. However, I really didn’t expect this odd little development or piece of enlightenment.
Tonight I went with one of my dearest friends to our favorite weekend activity, BINGO! We play a couple times a week but the one we go to on the weekend has a speed bingo. During the speed ball, everyone has to be silent, the caller calls the numbers very quickly, and quite rhythmically. I always feel more energized after our weekend Bingo. I thought it was because he calls so quickly that it wakes me up, but tonight I had another realization.
Speed bingo is a lot like guided meditation. The room is silent. There is one voice speaking, We are focused on our bingo cards. It’s very meditative. So I began focusing on my breathing as well and I noticed I felt even more meditative. Then I added little affirmations every time I got to dob a number. By the end of the night I felt amazing. Like I just spent an hour and a half with a group of people doing a guided meditation. And it’s like mini meditations because of course in between games we chat and laugh.
So oddly enough I think I’ve found an interesting way to incorporate meditation into a time I already enjoy in the extreme and I come out feeling revitalized. It’s wonderful.
